People who are HIV+ need to take antibiotics in order to keep opportunistic infections at bay. If they do not keep the infections away, they will develop full-blown AIDS, needing expensive anti-retroviral medicine to keep the virus in check.

Many children do not have the ability to purchase the antibiotics and other medicine they need and therefore, they develop AIDS and soon die.
