Overview
Youth Coalition is an international organization of young people between the ages of 15 & 29 committed to promoting youth sexual and reproductive rights at all levels. We believe that sexual and reproductive rights are human rights, and therefore apply equally to young people.
Mission
We aim to ensure that the sexual and reproductive rights of all young people are respected, guaranteed and promoted, and to secure the meaningful participation of young people in decision-making that affects their lives, by advocating, generating knowledge, sharing information, building partnerships and training young activists.
Program
Youth Coalition members participate in a diverse range of activities from international conferences and meetings to developing our own youth advocacy trainings. It also includes advocating for the inclusion of youth-friendly language in international documents and agreements, advocating to realize the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive rights for young people including access to information and education, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, and meaningful participation in all decision-making processes that affect them, and building the capacity of young people working on sexual and reproductive rights issues to advocate on their own behalf.
By bringing youth activists together at advocacy trainings we aim to give youth the information and tools that are necessary to start advocating for their sexual and reproductive rights, not only in their home countries, but their regions and internationally. We also encourage participants to pass on the knowledge that they have gained to other youth activists in their home countries either through other organizations that they work with or by holding their own workshops.
Impact
The Youth who are involved in our trainings come away with a sense of empowerment and commitment to fight for their sexual and reproductive rights. By understanding how important it is for youth to be involved in the decisions that affect their bodies and lives.
