African Foundation for People in Need [AFFPIN] is a local Christian faith based organisation founded in 2002 with the primary objective of responding to the needs of those living in abject poverty within the Mukono district of Uganda. AFFPIN aim to assist those who cannot provide for themselves, expose the level of poverty that the local people are forced to live with and develop community based sustainable solutions to counteract these problems.

The head office is on Level 1, Mayanja building, Market Street, Lugazi-town along Kampala-Jinja Highway about 50km east of Kampala, Uganda.

We are looking for 25 volunteers for a 3 weeks building placement of a classroom block for Manjeri children’s home and school. This placement is for both men women interested to travel and give to orphans and vulnerable children in Mukono district. The volunteers will join the local volunteer team to lay bricks and cast concrete, build classroom desks, plant trees at Manjeri children’s home. Volunteers are offered two days a week to tour attractive places of their choice in the country and shall be awarded a certificate of appreciation at the end of the placement. The Program fee is US$: 350 which include food three meals a day, paying the cook, transport to and fro the airport. Volunteers will be responsible of their own airfare and internal local transport from the orphanage around the country.

AFFPIN is interested in volunteers with carpentry and building skills are required. However, any person who is keen and has a big heart will be put to good use. We require volunteers to bring with them enthusiasm, their experiences, and a desire to share in the cultures of Africa with children at Manjeri Children’s Home & School.
