On January 28, 2005, 135 young progressive American women in their 20s and 30s from diverse class, racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds came together in Washington D.C. to plan a movement. This meeting—or “meet-upâ€â€”lay the blueprint for what would become the national Younger Women’s Task Force (YWTF). Today, YWTF boasts a membership of 2,500+ talented and active younger American women from 42 different states, with Chapters in Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago, Miami, Southern and Central California, Philadelphia and Northeastern Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Massachusetts. A project of the National Council of Women’s Organizations, the YWTF is a nationwide, diverse and inclusive grassroots movement dedicated to organizing women in their 20s and 30s to take action on issues that matter most to them. By and for younger women, YWTF works both within and beyond the women’s movement, engaging all who are invested in advancing the rights and leadership of younger women.
Now in our third operating year, YWTF continues our commitment to identifying and nurturing the next generation of progressive younger women leaders in the U.S. by supplying each of our 2,500+ members with the resources, skills, and support structure to make real the changes they wish to see in their lives, communities and the nation. YWTF is more than just another women’s organization reaching out to young women. We are a mobilizing force of progressive younger American women, dedicated to carving the space for the next American women’s movement by ensuring that every young progressive woman’s desire to lead is met with the tools and—most importantly—the community to realize her leadership to its fullest potential. Our programming and activism are defined every day by the diverse and dynamic younger women who make up the Younger Women’s Task Force.
By applying to join the YWTF Board of Directors, you will make your mark on this movement, and, if accepted, you will join an accomplished network of younger women making a difference in this country. Our board plays an integral role in setting the policy for the Younger Women's Task Force, as well as serving as a voice for younger women to our national policymakers, movement builders, and members of the mainstream and alternative media.
This is one of the only opportunities for younger women to serve on a board and shape our future. We encourage all to apply whether or not you have previous experience with the Younger Women's Task Force. We only ask that you be committed to advancing the rights of women in their 20s and 30s.
Assistant Fundraising Director: Events
• Work with National Director to organize and implement three major fundraising events per fiscal year. There should be at least one event per quarter.
• Assist chapter directors with fundraising events when needed.
• Plan and implement Knox Fellowship Completion Ceremony
