Women come to Dress for Success looking for guidance, support and help to re-enter the workforce or enter the workforce for the first time. These women come to DFS from non-profit organizations, including domestic violence agencies, homeless shelters and job-training programs. While the interview suit is just the beginning, it is an important first step in the lives of disadvantaged women who are on the path to gaining economic independence by transitioning into employment.
The Gift
Your gift will help provide a disadvantaged woman with their first Dress for Success experience, which includes an interview suit, a one-on-one session with a personal shopper and access to our Career Center. An interview suit will assist a woman in gaining employment and her interaction with our personal shoppers will give her confidence to excel in her interview. Dress for Success helps a woman become employed, and more importantly, makes sure she stays employed. Women making the transition from unemployment into the workforce face a myriad of challenges, from understanding corporate culture to handling personal finances, often with no support or guidance. Dress for Success’ Professional Women’s Group provides a safe environment where women can learn how to network, develop their professional skills and advance in their careers. Your gift remains a crucial part of our work and a vital first-step in a woman’s journey toward self-sufficiency.
