About Me

Hello, my name is Elena and I am a psychology student at Binghamton University. I am studying Industrial and Organizational psychology and as an intern here at Changing the Present, I intend to contribute my education and experience into a positive influence into this brilliant nonprofit as a part of the Human Resources department.

My Academics

As a psychology major, I take a significant determination to taking my focus of I/O psychology into the real world. Not only do I study workplace wellbeing and relationships, but I study and analyze social psychology and how people interact with others.

My Extracurricular Activities

When I am not in class nor working on my internship, I participate in my university's Student Psychological Association. In this organization, we strive to educate lower classmen and those who are not as knowledgeable about the psychological career possibilities. We also establish a community among people in not only the psychology major, but we welcome those in the integrative neuroscience major, and anyone else that has an interest in psychology and related topics. In this community, members establish support networks between not only students with similar interests, but with professors and professionals with experience that can and often does help these students.

What I am Doing for a Better World

My Favorite Causes

Environment
Mental Health

Regions and Countries I Care About

South America, United States

My Favorite Nonprofit Organizations

National Alliance on Mental Illness; Active Minds; Mental Health America; Greenpeace Fund; World Wildlife Fund

My Lifestyle

As a psychology major, I implement my knowledge of the human mind to influence my interaction with others. When I present class projects and presentations, I teach uncommonly known knowledge in order to spread the word about the significant issue of mental health in the hopes to encourage others to take mental health seriously and provide empathy to others. In my day to day routine, I try to be as sustainable as I possibly can. I take public transportation, refuse to buy single-use plastic water bottles or plastic containers.

My Charitable Wish List on Changing The Present

I love the idea of people donating instead of buying unwanted presents. It is a much more meaningful way to show your love.
