Build the Church
Bridges to Cuba
“Partnership is an evangelical mandate; we must be about the business of building bridges of love.” Carlos Ham, WCC Evangelism Executive, Former Luyanó Pastor. 132 Covenant members have made 167 total trips to our sister church. From one 2007 team member: “In Cuba I see something I have not had the need to feel in years. I see a people who trust in an all powerful God every moment of their lives. The Cuban people are a people of hope and faith, full of God’s light."
Your gift helps build bridges between Covenant and the Presbyterian Church in Luyano, Havana. Churched and unchurched Cubans better see the face of Christ through Cuban & American Christians at this difficult time in Cuba. Bridges help facilitate much-needed clothes, OTC medicines & supplies to meet our sister church’s basic needs. Bridges benefit Cuban Christians through our friendship, prayers and encouragement. Our recurring presence, 17 trips since 1997, provides consistent assurance of partnership in Christ even amidst their isolation from other Christians & the U.S. Bridges support the Matanzas seminary’s training of pastors & Christian educators as well as local mission and outreach to the elderly and youth in Cuba with prayer, fellowship & donations in strict accordance with our US Treasury Department licenses. Bridges allow us to experience the love of Christ that has conquered persecution and carried our Cuban Christian brothers & sisters through more than 50 years of spiritual & material adversity.
