Secondly, I would like to talk about mental health. Mental health is one of those silent killers and it's hard to tell if someone is suffering from mental health disabilities. Disabilities like clinical depression are difficult to see at first glance because people with depression can be all smiles when they're with friends but when they're alone, they're suffering. By supporting National Mental Health America, you will be helping the association by promoting mental health and funding research to help learn more about these issues. Also, you can support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to help save lives and assist people who have been affected by suicide.
Lastly, I would talk about issues around the world. Health is a major issue in third world countries. Countries like the ones in Africa are suffering from hunger and diseases. These countries are plagued with these issues and they lack the resources to combat these problems. By supporting WaterAid America, you will help provide water to children that are dying from dehydration. Also, by supporting the WFP, you will be helping provide food to school children. Lastly, by supporting Plan International USA, you will be funding vaccinations to children that have not been vaccinated.

Mental Health America

NMHA works with more than 70 national organizations—both in and outside the health care field—for whom depression and its treatment represent an important concern for their memberships. NMHA forms partnerships with community groups to educate diverse populations about depression, promote screenings, and generate local media coverage. NMHA also hosts an online depression screening tool – www.depression-screening.org. Since 1992, this effort has helped hundreds of thousands across the country recognize depression, get needed treatment, and resume productive, fulfilling lives. We have reached out to parents and caregivers with a Back-to-School program that supplies practical information about child and adolescent social/emotional development; we provide Back-to-Campus kits to help train resident assistants in recognizing mental health problems in freshman students; and we provide and distribute information on such subjects as reaching out to military personnel, and training volunteers for dealing with victims of crime or national disasters, such as hurricanes.

Friends of the World Food Program, Inc.
$15.00
Your gift of $15 will provide 60 children with a school meal, which is proven to significantly increase attendance rates and help children take their minds off their next meal and dedicate their attention to their studies. Providing meals within the educational system encourages poor families to send their children to school and proper nutrition helps pupils stay focused in the classroom. Children, such as eight year old Emmanuel, who participates in a WFP Liberia school feeding program, are dependent on the meals provided by WFP to get through the day. He explains, “Sometimes my parents don't have the money to buy me breakfast. I'm always happy to come to school because I can eat here.” Through school meals, WFP is not only able to fight hunger but also provide children with the key to a better future - an education. Your gift will provide take-home food rations to girls in school for six months to help ease the economic burden on parents. This will help convince parents to keep their daughters in school and free them from their household chores. This gives girls, who otherwise may stay at home, the chance to learn. By promoting education for girls, the World Food Program (WFP) will improve a woman’s chances of finding well-paid work, raising a healthy family and even preventing the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS. WFP is also helping these girls to achieve economic independence and have a voice within their communities. Education empowers girls and gives them the knowledge and tools they need to improve their lives. It will continue to have positive and long-lasting effects not only for them, but also for their families and their communities.
