This gift will provide the magic of two new books to a child in need, and help create a foundation of literacy in her life.

Educate Young Girls - Food for education

Friends of the World Food Program, Inc.

$60.00

Your gift will provide take-home food rations to girls in school for six months to help ease the economic burden on parents. This will help convince parents to keep their daughters in school and free them from their household chores. This gives girls, who otherwise may stay at home, the chance to learn. By promoting education for girls, the World Food Program (WFP) will improve a woman’s chances of finding well-paid work, raising a healthy family and even preventing the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS. WFP is also helping these girls to achieve economic independence and have a voice within their communities. Education empowers girls and gives them the knowledge and tools they need to improve their lives. It will continue to have positive and long-lasting effects not only for them, but also for their families and their communities. You can make a significant, meaningful, tangible impact in the lives of children and adults worldwide. Each cataract surgery completely restores someone's sight in approximately 15-30 minutes, and the cost of the surgery in Tamale, Ghana is $60. Every dollar donated makes a tremendous impact on the lives of children and adults. Unite For Sight's volunteers work as support staff with eye clinics in Africa and Asia. The clinic's eye doctors diagnose and treat eye disease in the field, and surgical patients are brought to the eye clinic for surgery. Unite For Sight funds the surgeries for those patients unable to afford eye care. This partnership between Unite For Sight volunteers and eye clinics enables sustainable programs while simultaneously reducing the barriers to health care, including financial, transportation, cultural, and education hindrances.

Your gift will provide supplies for a KaBOOM! Play Day, which brings out an entire community for one day focused on the importance (and fun!) of play. At KaBOOM!, we believe that kids who play are less likely to be obese and develop obesity-related health problems. They also develop the cognitive skills that are positively linked to learning and academic performance. And they also learn confidence and the social skills that help them become happy, well-adjusted adults.

$50.00

Make an important contribution and a special connection with the animals at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium by joining the Aquadoption program. Your Aquadoption will help pay for the feeding and care of an animal on exhibit at the Aquarium, as well as make a statement of commitment to keeping the Santa Monica Bay and its animals healthy and safe.

$40.00

Some families are so drained financially from the tremendous costs of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s that they cannot afford the $40 enrollment fee. Your scholarship enrollment gift will give the family peace of mind knowing that their loved one has identification and is registered with this national program. A typical response from a family member: “I didn’t even know my dad was gone. A Good Samaritan found him wandering in our neighborhood, saw his bracelet and called 911. I don’t know what would have happened if he wasn’t registered.”
