Every year, my family and friends have trouble finding me a a birthday present because I already have everything that I want/need. This year, I ask that the money used on those presents be donated to organizations that would benefit more than I would. With actions like these, we can help make a difference in the world.

$60.00

This gift will provide 10 Cambodian children the opportunity to attend school! Education offers these children perhaps their only potential route out of subsistence poverty. The Sharing Foundation provides general support for more than 700 children who attend the Roteang village public school by donating supplies and uniforms for needy students. In addition, this gift supports TSF's Sewing Program, which trains women so they can get supervisory jobs in the garment industry or work in TSF's local shop, providing good income for their families. Last year, TSF's sewing school made over 1,000 uniform sets, each one with two white shirts and two blue trousers or two skirts. TSF gave them to needy Roteang village children, to the Street Children's Assistance NGO, and to a poor government orphanage. Our sewing students, who develop skills by making school uniforms, earn from the first day of their training, so this is a win-win situation. This year, we aim to donate 1,400 uniform sets, including some for HIV children's group homes.

Educate Young Girls - Food for education

Friends of the World Food Program, Inc.

$60.00

Your gift will provide take-home food rations to girls in school for six months to help ease the economic burden on parents. This will help convince parents to keep their daughters in school and free them from their household chores. This gives girls, who otherwise may stay at home, the chance to learn. By promoting education for girls, the World Food Program (WFP) will improve a woman’s chances of finding well-paid work, raising a healthy family and even preventing the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS. WFP is also helping these girls to achieve economic independence and have a voice within their communities. Education empowers girls and gives them the knowledge and tools they need to improve their lives. It will continue to have positive and long-lasting effects not only for them, but also for their families and their communities. Feed 60 Children - Help a Child Learn

Friends of the World Food Program, Inc.

$15.00

Your gift of $15 will provide 60 children with a school meal, which is proven to significantly increase attendance rates and help children take their minds off their next meal and dedicate their attention to their studies. Providing meals within the educational system encourages poor families to send their children to school and proper nutrition helps pupils stay focused in the classroom. Children, such as eight year old Emmanuel, who participates in a WFP Liberia school feeding program, are dependent on the meals provided by WFP to get through the day. He explains, “Sometimes my parents don't have the money to buy me breakfast. I'm always happy to come to school because I can eat here.” Through school meals, WFP is not only able to fight hunger but also provide children with the key to a better future - an education.
