Overview

Founded in 1954, the American Society on Aging (ASA) is an association of diverse individuals bound by a common goal: to support the commitment and enhance the knowledge and skills of those who seek to improve the quality of life of older adults and their families. The membership of ASA is a multidisciplinary array of professionals who are concerned with the physical, emotional, social, economic and spiritual aspects of aging.

Mission

ASA is a professional association that develops leadership, knowledge, and skills to address the challenges and opportunities of a diverse aging society.

Program

Publications—including the redesigned monthly e-newsletter ASA Connection, the bi-monthly Aging Today, quarterly journal Generations and quarterly Constituent Group newsletters.

Conference and Events—including the Joint Conference of ASA-NCOA, Autumn Series on Aging and regional network events.

Educational Initiatives—including live and on-demand web seminars, community-based trainings and online resources such as Live Well, Live Long.

Impact

With more than 10,000 members, subscribers and stakeholders, ASA is the largest association for professionals working in the field of aging. The San Francisco-based association currently employs more than 40 staff and has an operating budget of over $4.1 million.
