Grantmakers In Aging
Problem
During the next several decades, the Age Boom will affect virtually all aspects of American society. Unfortunately, our nation is currently ill-prepared for many of these changes. By giving a gift, timely information provided by experts raising awareness of aging issues at GIA's annual conference will be recorded by students interested in pursuing a career in an aging-related field. Summaries of all conference topics are published and distributed to promote grantmaking in aging.
The Gift
Each year world-wide and national experts in the field of aging present leading-edge information to attendees at GIA's annual conference. Since 1999, GIA has sponsored a conference Fellows Program to recognize outstanding regional graduate and postdoctoral students who are interested in gerontology. Fellows receive a stipend covering conference participation, materials, lodging, and travel. In turn; Fellows summarize session information for publication in a conference highlights publication and share their professional expertise through presentations to conference participants. With a donation of $50, you will cover the costs of having one GIA Fellow be a reporter during an annual conference session. This is an investment in a student being trained to work with older adults and helps GIA spread the word about issues facing our communities and the world as the number of older adults rapidly increases.
