Build Farm Capacity
Training for a farmer
International Water Management Institute
Problem
Farmers face a number of challenges, including conditions that are difficult and changing; lack of appropriate knowledge (both research and locally-generated); the need for enhanced skills; and the need for improved access to technologies.
The Gift
Your gift will provide three days of training for a small-holder farmer. IWMI uses the valuable information it gains through targeted research to develop appropriate materials which are presented through training courses offered at the local level for farmers. Attending such training courses provides vital information and experience for farmers. The new information and skills gained by the farmer has long –term impacts on farming and water management methods, which can increase yields of the farm, reverse land degradation, and improve opportunities for improving livelihoods. Your gift will help us equip farmers with necessary tools for improving their conditions, exposing farmers to different water and land management technologies and their opportunities and constraints for improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. Focus is on technologies and knowledge that can be implemented on an individual or community basis to upgrade farming systems with substantial productivity benefits.
