Problem

Unlike people in many parts of the world, Americans take clean, safe drinking water for granted. We shouldn't. Each year up to 7 million Americans become sick from contaminated tap water, which can also be lethal. NRDC safeguards our drinking water by helping to ensure that the Safe Drinking Water Act is carried out effectively, by pushing for citizens' right to know about contaminants in their water and by conducting scientific research and public education.
