Stateless People
Increase citizenship
Refugees International
Problem
More than 11 million people around the world are stateless, meaning they have no legal bond of nationality with any state. Many never acquired citizenship of their birth country or have lost their citizenship and have no claim to citizenship of another state. They are international orphans who have fallen through the cracks of the UN. Millions of stateless people have no legal protections, can’t work, have inadequate access to healthcare and education, and suffer sexual and physical violence.
