End Homelessness
Moving into a new home
Building Opportunities For Self-Sufficiency
Problem
Homeless people face multiple difficulties in trying to turn their lives around -- not only finding a job, gaining new skills, dealing with physical or mental illness, or overcoming addiction, but simply finding a home that is affordable on a very low income, while saving up to move in and buy furniture and household items. Homeless people can barely afford rent and utilities, let along first/last month's rent and security deposit: move-in assistance is KEY to lifting people out of homelessness.
The Gift
This gift will provide move-in assistance to help a homeless family or individual who has located affordable housing and is ready to move in, but does not have savings for move in costs. Move in assistance may include first or last month's rent, security deposit, mover expenses, furniture and household items, linens and bedding, games and toys for kids, or food and kitchen items to stock the kitchen.
