School-based Education Program
Schools are an ideal location for the Unspoken Smiles outreach model because they allow our Fellows to reach a large number of children with information and instruction that ultimately y instill healthy habits. Unspoken Smiles Fellows/volunteers visit classrooms to perform age-appropriate and culturally - tailored demonstrations for oral hygiene and nutrition and to engage the children in games and activities to help them understand how to maintain a healthy smile. Daily classroom tooth-brushing routines are often established, as well as annual fluoride varnish applications. It is by reaching children and reinforcing these messages that the sustainability of health outcomes may be achieved.
Lifetime supply of toothpaste and brushes for 25 children.
