Problem
APF’s 200 bison roam a 14,000-acre area that is mostly roadless and sometimes it’s difficult to locate the herd, despite the telemetry collars that four of the bison are currently wearing. In cooperation with the University of Montana and World Wildlife Fund, we are in the final year of a study to determine how bison impact vegetation and riparian areas compared to cattle. A satellite collar would save scientists valuable time in locating the herd for their fieldwork.
The Gift
$5,000 covers the cost of one satellite collar, allowing us to better monitor our bison herd and share real-time data about the herd's movements with project enthusiasts.
