Train Leaders
Workshop for leaders
International HIV/AIDS Alliance USA
Problem
Lack of knowledge about HIV/AIDS, myths and stigma and discrimination serve only to fuel the spread of the epidemic. In poor countries, there are communities (and marginalized groups within them) in which nobody has the right knowledge and skills to share with others. They could greatly benefit from a few key people who are able to take the lead and show others the way forward in taking action.
The Gift
Your donation will help us to train leaders in issues around HIV/AIDS – for example, in prevention, care and support, stigma and discrimination – and to equip them with the necessary skills to make the best use of their learning. The leaders may be influential individuals within a community, such as religious leaders, or they may be a key representative of a marginalized group such as sex workers. With their training, the leaders can then disseminate important messages about HIV/AIDS to others in their communities. Their engagement and support for tackling the epidemic will help to create a climate that is conducive to preventing the spread of HIV, supporting people living with HIV and reducing stigma and discrimination – making a real difference at community level.
