Kupenda for the children is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt Christian based organization that exists to meet the needs of children, with disabilities. Ultimately the goal is that these children will feel that they are loved and accepted.
Kupenda for the children meets its mission through one-on-one sponsorship for payment of school fees and formation of child-sponsor relationships, construction of special needs facilities, funding medical intervention, provision of school supplies and medical equipment, creating awareness in the community, strengthening of local churches to better assist special needs children and staffing qualified help for the children in need. Their disabilities include cerebral palsy, deafness, deformed or missing limbs, spinal bifida, effects of polio, visual impairment, Downs’ syndrome, autism, epilepsy, and other physical and mental disabilities. Currently the focus of Kupenda is in the Malindi district on the coast of Kenya.
A Letter from the Founder about the History of Kupenda:
This charity is the result of a burden placed on my heart long before I ever even went to Africa. The burden grew on visits to Uganda and Kenya as I saw people begging on the streets with a variety of disabilities that I knew, from experience, could be improved if they lived in the U.S. With each disabled person I met, I would think, “someone should do something.” Somehow God made it clear to me I might be that someone.
