Problem

The porter population typically receives only a primary education in which they do not learn English. The Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project offers free conversational English classes to porters. This allows porters to learn the simple communication skills and enables them to interact with guests on a climb as well as provide a basic foundation in the English language.

The Gift

This gift will provide a teacher's salary for 1 week of English classes in the village areas surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro. Classes are 2 hours long for a size of 20 porters who receive this language instruction for free.
