- Help A Person Home Alzheimer's AssociationProblemSix in 10 people with Alzheimer’s will wander, become confused and get lost, putting their lives at risk if not found in 24 hours. Safe Return® provides enrollment in a national identification program and ID jewelry. One phone call to our 800 Helpline activates a support community, including law enforcement, to find and return the individual home. The Gift Some families are so drained financially from the tremendous costs of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s that they cannot afford the $40 enrollment fee. Your scholarship enrollment gift will give the family peace of mind knowing that their loved one has identification and is registered with this national program. A typical response from a family member: “I didn’t even know my dad was gone. A Good Samaritan found him wandering in our neighborhood, saw his bracelet and called 911. I don’t know what would have happened if he wasn’t registered.”$40.00
- Help Caregivers Alzheimer's AssociationProblemFamily, friends, neighbors and others who care for a person with Alzheimer’s face tremendous emotional stress. They may be up in the middle of the night, unable to sleep and desperate to talk to a friend who can understand what they are facing. Qualified counselors on our Helpline provide understanding, support, information and referral 24/7. The Gift People living with Alzheimer’s and caregivers often face an overwhelming number of issues associated with the disease. These may include handling dementia-related behaviors, how to better communicate with the person with Alzheimer’s, assisting with daily needs, safety issues, and where to get local support and resources. The counselor may refer them to a local Alzheimer’s Association chapter or other community resources. A typical situation for Helpline counselors: “After my mom died, my father would ask where she was. Every time I told him she had passed on, he started grieving all over again. Last night I was just at the end of my rope. A friend said to call the Alzheimer’s Association.”$15.00
- Cloud Forest Lesson Amazon Conservation AssociationProblemOne of the world’s greatest concentrations of biodiversity occurs in the cloud forests between the eastern slopes of the tropical Andes and the Amazonian lowlands. However, local students living in rural southeastern Peru have had little access to these wonderous cloud forests so close to their home. With your gift, scientists with the Amazon Conservation Association can bring these children to the Wayqecha Research Station for a full day of learning and exploration of this natural treasure. The Gift The Wayqecha Biological Research Station is located in the Kosñipata Valley on the eastern slopes of the Andes Mountains of southeastern Peru, four hours from Cuzco. The station sits on approximately 8,200 acres spanning 7,200 - 12,000 feet above sea-level, from Andean cloud forest to grassland. Your gift of $10 per child sponsors an all day field trip to the research station for students from surrounding districts. The day includes an early-morning bus ride to the station, introductory talks and games by local researchers, a guided hike, lunch, and an opportunity to learn more about the flora and fauna of the area. Through this trip, local students will learn how they can become involved in the conservation of their natural heritage.$10.00
- Science Saturday Amazon Conservation AssociationProblemOne of the world's greatest concentrations of biodiversity occurs in the old growth Amazonian forest at the base of the Andes in southeastern Peru. However, local students living in rural southeastern Peru have had little access to this natural treasure so close to their home. The Gift The Los Amigos Biological Station, commonly known as CICRA (Centro de Investigación y Capacitación Río Los Amigos), located at the confluence of the Madre de Dios and Los Amigos rivers, is the Amazon's most active research station. "Science Saturday" is a weekly program that brings together the researchers who've traveled thousands of kilometers to work here and the children who have lived in the nearby village of Boca Amigos all their lives. This gift will provide a day of science and environmental education for 15 local schoolchildren grades K-6. We'll send you a photo of the kids and researchers teaching each other about the rainforest.$50.00
- Park Ranger Uniform Amazon Conservation AssociationProblemThe Amazon rainforest is home to more than a third of the species found on Earth, as well as countless foods, fibers, and potential new medicines to benefit humankind. It is also a vital force shaping the world's weather and climate patterns. Moreover, twenty percent of all fresh water on Earth flows through the basin's rivers. Unfortunately, these forests are facing increasing threats from road development, logging, and large-scale agriculture. The Gift In 2000, ACA and its local partner ACCA established the world's first private conservation concession in the Los Amigos River watershed. The Los Amigos Conservation Concession covers 360,000 acres of old growth Amazonian forest at the base of the Andes in southeastern Peru. This watershed forms a lowland forest corridor that protects the eastern access of Manu National Park and connects it to the Tambopata National Reserve. Here, the organization focuses on forest protection, research, conservation education, and natural resource management training. Park rangers are the unsung heroes of tropical conservation. This gift will outfit a park ranger on the front lines of Amazonian conservation with a high-quality uniform and hiking boots for a year of field patrolling and monitoring in the Los Amigos Conservation Concession.$150.00

- Conserve the Amazon Amazon Conservation AssociationProblemThe Amazon rainforest is home to 30% of the plant and animal species on earth, many of them found nowhere else. However, this irreplaceable ecosystem is threatened by slash and burn agriculture, wildlife poaching, mining, illegal logging, oil prospecting, and large infrastructure projects. At current rates, more than half of the Amazon rainforest may be destroyed or severely damaged by 2030. With your help, we can work to make sure Amazon forests are conserved for future generations. The Gift This gift protects ONE acre of Amazonian rainforest. Your support is needed to manage the 360,000-acre Los Amigos Conservation Concession. This area of old-growth rainforest has one of the highest species concentrations in Amazonia. It is part of a 20 million-acre block of wilderness in southeastern Peru, which is home to some of the last uncontacted indigenous groups on Earth. Your support will help us prevent poaching and illegal deforestation in the concession by funding and equipping a team of local forest rangers, as well as promote conservation and Amazonian science through our biodiversity monitoring program. These activities cost us an average of $8 per acre per year. Your gift will help ensure that there are jaguars and rainforests for generations to come.$8.00

- Help Children Grow Amazon PromiseProblemIntestinal parasites are a major health problem affecting Peruvian children. Chronic infestation results in malnutrition, anemia, and chronic diarrhea, a leading cause of child mortality. In remote villages in the Amazon, the river is the lifeblood of jungle communities. These waters are used for fishing, bathing, washing, travel and recreation. They are also home to dangerous parasites routinely ingested by young children. Your contribution will help nearly 750 children become parasite-free The Gift This gift will provide the medicine needed to treat approximately 750 children for intestinal parasites. Once treated, children are less likely to contract infectious diseases and their nutrition is better, resulting in improved overall health and enhanced educational outcomes in school.$50.00
- Save Ill Children Amazon PromiseProblemDiarrheal diseases are a leading cause of early childhood mortality in developing countries. An estimated 2.2 million children die from dehydration due to diarrheal diseases every year. A simple solution of sugar, salt and water can prevent nearly 90% of child deaths from diarrhea. Oral Rehydration Salts are premade packets that, when mixed with water, can be the difference between life and death for an ill child. The Gift This gift will provide 250 packets of Oral Rehydration Salts, which can be a life-saving therapy for Peruvian children with severe acute diarrhea.$100.00
- Keep Me Healthy! Amazon PromiseProblemParasites, malnutrition and anemia are major problems in the communities where Amazon Promise works. In Belen, in the city of Iquitos, 4-6 meters of water cover the town during the rainy season, mixing with human waste and other refuse to produce widespread contamination. This exposes many children who rely on these waters for travel, bathing and recreation to potentially harmful bacteria and parasites. Potable water and multivitamins are a basic and essential foundation of good health. The Gift This gift will provide approximately 28 Peruvian children with a daily multivitamin for a whole year, enabling them to grow up strong, fight disease, remain in school, and stay healthy!$125.00
- Heal A Village Amazon PromiseProblemThere are approximately 250,000 Indigenous and Mestizo people living in the Amazon Jungle in Peru. These people are very poor, uneducated, and isolated socially and politically from the rest of Peru. They have limited access to public services, healthcare, and education. There are few options for health care in these remote villages, and every day people die of infections, injuries, malnutrition and preventable diseases. The Gift This gift will provide a hygiene packet for a family of 5 that includes soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and oral rehydration salts.$5.00
- Feed A Family Amazon PromiseProblemHunger and malnutrition are unfortunate complications of living in a part of the world where abject poverty, unemployment and preventable diseases are a way of life. Those who are too sick to work go hungry. The Gift This gift will provide a food basket to help feed a malnourished family. This basket contains 2 kg rice, 2 kg beans, 1 kg salt, 1 kg sugar, oatmeal, milk, eggs and oil.$10.00
- Prevent HIV Amazon PromiseProblemThe cost and availability of HIV testing in remote villages and poor city neighborhoods is prohibitive for the average individual. Hence, most people do not know their status and continue to engage in potentially risky behavior. The combination of prevention education, condoms, and testing is the foundation of Amazon Promise’s ¡Soy Capaz! campaign developed in response to a sharp increase in the prevalence of HIV in the communities where we work. The Gift This gift will provide five comprehensive HIV tests, allowing those at risk to learn their HIV status, and be referred to the Peruvian Ministry of Health for counseling and enrollment in the government's antiretroviral treatment program.$50.00
- Buy Mosquito Nets Amazon PromiseProblemIn the Peruvian Amazon, mosquito plagues are common due to the hot, humid climate (temperatures range from 21.8 to 31.6 degrees Celsius) and resurgent pools of stagnant water abound in river communities during the low water season. High humidity quickly claims low quality nets, and for most people, the cost of purchasing more durable nets is prohibitive. The Gift This gift will provide approximately 350 individuals with insecticide-treated mosquito nets that will protect them against infectious diseases like malaria, leishmaniasis, dengue fever, and yellow fever. It will also protect against bat and snake bites which are common in the Amazon!$1,000.00

- Feed Preschoolers American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA)Problem Malnutrition is a growing problem for Palestinian families, particularly in Gaza. Subsequently, many children in Gaza are too badly fed and weak to enjoy a happy, healthy childhood. A study by Johns Hopkins University, CARE and ANERA found that anemia and malnutrition are widespread among up to one quarter of children less than five years of age. Families have been hit especially hard since the outbreak of recent violence and Israeli restrictions on movement. The Gift In an effort to slow the growth of malnutrition, ANERA initiated the Milk for Preschoolers (MfP) project which supplies fortified milk and high energy biscuits in preschools in needy communities in Gaza. Each child receives a box of milk and a package of high energy wafers every school day under the supervision of their teachers. The program is also working to raise nutrition awareness of children, their families, and preschool teachers. The MfP project currently helps over 20,000 needy preschoolers in Gaza.$11.00
- Prevent Illness American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA)ProblemFamilies that fled their homes during the war in Lebanon this summer lack supplies to care for infant children. In many cases, these families are still living in temporary living quarters where keeping children healthy is difficult. The necessary supplies in the hygiene kits allow mothers to easily protect their children from preventable illnesses, which pre-empts the need for costly medical treatments in the future. The Gift The hygiene kits are a key component of ANERA’s mission to focus on preventative health care for displaced persons as they raise awareness about good health and hygiene practices. The kits include baby wash and shampoo, diapers, baby wipes, and aspirin for infants. Powdered milk is included in kits for children aged 1 to 3 years old. Infant formula is available for children aged 0 to 12 months, but is only distributed after consultation with a medical professional to determine if the mother is breastfeeding and if not, whether or not breastfeeding is possible. Your gift will provide one infant hygiene kit.$20.00
- Interpretive Signs American Prairie FoundationProblemAmerican Prairie Reserve’s first campground will open May 15th and we have plans to build our first trail this summer. The Reserve is open for business, and we expect to welcome people from all over the country this year. We would like to install three custom interpretive signs to help visitors understand our project, the natural history of bison and the role Native Americans played in the history of the landscape. The Gift This gift will help pay for one interpretive sign to be installed on the Reserve. The cost of each sign is $1,000. These signs will help to make American Prairie Reserve a more "visitor friendly" destination. They will provide visitors with a better understanding of the project's significance and the natural and cultural history of the landscape that the project protects.$1,000.00
- Fence Removal American Prairie FoundationProblemAmerican Prairie Reserve is in the path of what is possibly the longest pronghorn antelope migration in North America. Pronghorn do not jump fences—they scoot under fences. If the bottom wire of a barbed wire fence is too low, pronghorn cannot cross and their centuries-old migration is interrupted. Help us remove unused fencing that is not friendly to wildlife. The Gift Your gift will help us remove a section of fence the length of a football field. By removing unneeded fence on the Reserve, your gift will open valuable corridors of wildlife migration for pronghorn and other regional species.$95.00
- Bison Collar American Prairie FoundationProblemAPF’s 200 bison roam a 14,000-acre area that is mostly roadless and sometimes it’s difficult to locate the herd, despite the telemetry collars that four of the bison are currently wearing. In cooperation with the University of Montana and World Wildlife Fund, we are in the final year of a study to determine how bison impact vegetation and riparian areas compared to cattle. A satellite collar would save scientists valuable time in locating the herd for their fieldwork. The Gift $5,000 covers the cost of one satellite collar, allowing us to better monitor our bison herd and share real-time data about the herd's movements with project enthusiasts.$5,000.00
- Support BioBlitz American Prairie FoundationProblemFunding is needed to help support BioBlitz, which will be held June 23-25, is a one-of-a-kind outdoor education experience that provides students and volunteers with the chance to work side-by-side with professional scientists, wildlife managers and researchers in an exciting 24-hour scramble to catalog as many plant, animal and insect species as possible. This summer, June 23-25, we will host our first BioBlitz on American Prairie Reserve.$150.00
- Provide Safe Water American Refugee CommitteeProblemIn war and conflict zones, something as simple as finding water gets complicated. Women and children often walk a mile or more to get to water. And the water they find may be unsafe and cause disease. 6,000 people a day – most of them children – die from water-borne disease. Something as seemingly simple as clean water can prevent thousands of deaths. The Gift Your gift of $3,000 will provide a new well and a safe source of water for a town or village. From digging a well - to teaching a community how to keep it clean – to distributing water containers – your gift provides people with their most basic need. Clean water. Instead of the latest fad that’s forgotten in a few months, why not give a loved one the gift of knowing that they’re allowing a community to drink for years to come.$3,000.00
- Promote Sanitation American Refugee CommitteeProblemNatural disaster and heavy fighting can wipe out everything – including outhouses and latrines. Though it’s often not thought of as a necessity – good sanitation systems prevent more suffering. During an emergency, when thousands of people gather together, a lack of latrines can be deadly. Disease can spread fast and quickly get out of control. Latrines and sanitation systems contain that threat. The Gift Life-saving work is rarely glamorous. But, a latrine and training in how to maintain it can protect a large family from the threat of disease. Yours will be the most interesting and intriguing gift your loved one receives. And it will save the most lives.$30.00
- Shelter A Family American Refugee CommitteeProblem Conflict and natural disaster force people to flee their homes. They find safety days away. But, often, there is often no place for them to stay. They must live outside – in the bush or under a tree. In rain, storms and cold, having no shelter is devastating. The Gift Your gift provides refuge. With a roof overhead and some basic necessities and services, families are safer and healthier. A reliable shelter becomes the foundation for recovery from the trauma many have faced. There’s no better gift for someone you love than a gift of hope and opportunity for a family who have lost everything. Your donation will provide shelter for one family.$80.00
- Share Opportunity American Refugee CommitteeProblemWhen people are forced to flee their homes, they must leave their livelihoods behind. They take with them their skills but must abandon their tools in order to make it to safety. Stripped of a means of supporting themselves, families languish. There’s not enough food or clothing, and they can’t afford to send their children to school. People want more than anything to get back to work, but they have no opportunities. The Gift Your donation can change everything for a family. A small loan and a few skills and small business training sessions make an enormous impact. Mothers and fathers can start a small business that feeds their whole family, clothes their kids and sends them to school. They may even be able to save some money to expand their business in the future. Try to find a gift of self-sufficiency at the mall or shopping online. You can’t. It’s a unique opportunity to make a lasting difference in someone’s life. And it’s a unique gift that you’re loved one’s sure to appreciate.$50.00
- Cook Hot Meals American Refugee CommitteeProblemPeople flee conflict and disaster with only the clothes on their backs. But when they make it to safety, they need much more - a way to feed themselves, to prepare food. They need cooking utensils and a pot or a cookstove. Unable to cook food or boil water, people are exposed to harmful bacteria and disease spreads. And without a way to cook food, people face an extremely limited diet. The Gift Your donation will focus on helping people prepare food and water that’s safe. A slow-burning, fuel-efficient cookstove, a kerosene stove, a pot, cooking utensils, soap for dishwashing – all will take some of the risk out of eating. The gift you give your loved one will stand out - safe and healthy meals for a family. They’ll remember your gift long after they’ve forgotten the rest.$15.00
- Share Knowledge American Refugee CommitteeProblemInfectious diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS threaten the lives of refugees and people in need. Simple precautions can be taken to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. But, often, people don’t have all the information they need to take these precautions. Messages about good health are particularly difficult to convey. They must be communicated in culturally-acceptable ways. Otherwise, they may be lost or even deemed false. The Gift Your gift focuses on getting people the life-saving information they need in a culturally appropriate manner. By training refugees to educate their communities, convening small group educational meetings, and creating signs, pamphlets, art and music with health messages – your donation will make an impact upon the health of an entire community. What better gift for your loved one? Even the person who has everything surely hasn’t had the privilege of giving a community a healthier future.$40.00
- Aid Pregnancy American Refugee CommitteeProblemPregnancies can be complicated. They require periodic care to protect the health of mother and child. And, of course, mothers need care and assistance when they actually go into labor. But many health facilities are damaged or destroyed in times of conflict and disaster. Doctors and health professionals may have fled. Local health systems can’t cope with demand for services. And pregnant mothers may be lost in the shuffle. The Gift Your gift will give expectant mothers the support they need. From providing training and education to midwives, to equipping them with the sterilized and safe delivery and first-aid kits they need, to providing mothers and infants with post-delivery care – giving birth will be easier and safer. What gift is better than giving a mother and child a healthy beginning? Your loved one will be glad you’ve given them the opportunity to start a life out healthy.$135.00
- Ensure Safe Labor American Refugee CommitteeProblemGiving birth is a high-risk moment in every woman’s life. The body is more vulnerable and exposed than at almost any other time of life. Injury and infection can easily result from the stress and impact of labor. For women living in make-shift shelters with poor sanitation and hygiene systems, the risk of infection and disease skyrockets. Giving birth becomes scary and uncertain. The Gift Your gift will focus on providing a clean and safe delivery for mother and child. A clean delivery kit, with sterile gloves, gauze, scissors and antibiotic ointment, will greatly reduce the chances of infection. And continuing care after delivery will ensure that mother and child stay healthy. The gift you give your loved one will stand out – a clean and safe delivery for a mother and child. They won’t forget your thoughtful and unique gift.$17.00
- Provide Safety American Refugee CommitteeProblemIn conflict and disaster settings, the protection of community breaks down. Without their community behind them, women and children are targeted for abuse. They become vulnerable to attack by strangers. They may be beaten, raped, enslaved or even killed. And there’s little they can do. In these settings, domestic violence goes largely unpunished. Women and children have no recourse and no place to turn for help. The Gift Your gift will provide safehouse supplies for one month, making sure women and children don't suffer further attacks. A safehouse provides them with protection from their attackers. There they can recover, receive medical treatment and counseling and pursue justice, if they so choose. What could be a more important gift? Your special someone will thank you for the opportunity to be a part of ending violence against women and children.$1,000.00
- Clean Hands American Refugee CommitteeProblemDisease can spread fast, especially in makeshift shelters and sanitation systems. People who are forced to flee their homes have no time to collect their personal hygiene items. As a result, they usually have little protection from disease. Simple hygiene necessities can make a huge difference in fighting disease and keeping people healthy. The Gift Your gift focuses on the simple hygiene needs of people who’ve lost everything. Hand and body soap, sanitary napkins, laundry soap, a toothbrush, cotton gauze, and a small towel are people’s first line of defense against disease. Community education sessions on hygiene also make a big difference in people’s habits and stymie the spread of disease. Many of us take the availability of soap for granted. Your gift will remind a loved one how valuable hygiene items are, and they’ll be honored that, on their behalf, you gave people the tools to prevent disease.$15.00
- Train Women American Refugee CommitteeProblemIn most conflict and post-conflict settings, the burden of caring for a family can fall entirely upon women. Men go to war, and often they won’t return. Women – already accustomed to managing the home – become a family’s sole breadwinner. To support their families, women may need to learn a new skill or how to run a small business. Without those tools it can be hard to make ends meet. The Gift Your donation changes everything for a woman and her family. Small business and skills training, coupled with a small loan or grant, makes an immeasurable impact. A mother can start a small business that feeds her family and clothes her kids. She can send them to school and give them the chance for a better future. Where else can you get a gift that changes the future for a woman and her kids and grandkids after her. It’s a special gift for your special friend or loved one.$250.00
- Microchip A Pet American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsProblemAlthough many pet parents believe it could never happen to them, countless companion animals escape and become lost every year. Unfortunately, the odds are heavily stacked against a reunion between the lost animal and his or her human family—and these odds are even worse for animals who do not have proper identification. The Gift To help increase the chances that a lost animal will be recovered, the ASPCA relies on microchip identification. An electronic chip, about the size of a grain of rice and carrying a unique code, is implanted between a pet’s shoulder blades. The code is entered into a database that links up the animal’s family’s address and contact information. Similar to a routine vaccination, this procedure is quick and painless. If a lost animal is brought to a shelter or vet’s office, the facility will use a scanner to check the dog or cat for a microchip. Your gift will allow us to microchip one adoptable animal in our shelter, affording peace of mind for the new pet parent and helping to ensure a speedy return in the event that the animal accidentally becomes lost.$25.00

- Care For A Pet American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsProblemAnimals awaiting adoption at our shelter are often former strays who’ve never had proper medical care. What’s one way to help ensure that a pet remains healthy in his new home when he gets adopted? Preventive medicine! Vaccines offer protection against a variety of illnesses, from distemper and parvovirus in dogs to panleukopenia and rhinotracheitis in cats. And if left untreated, common problems like flea infestation and worms can seriously weaken an animal’s immune system. The Gift To ensure that each animal who gets adopted has the best possible chance of remaining healthy and happy in his or her new home, ASPCA veterinarians offer specialized care and treatment for all of the animals in our shelter. Our medical staff tests each animal for a variety of illnesses—to protect their health, as well as the health of all the animals in our shelter. Adoptable animals also receive all required vaccinations. Your gift will provide veterinary care for a dog or cat awaiting adoption in our shelter. When that animal finds his forever home, he’ll already have the foundation of good health. Thanks for making that glorious beginning happen!$75.00
- Spay/Neuter A Pet American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsProblemMillions of cats and dogs of all ages and breeds are euthanized annually or suffer as strays. It is impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats live in the United States; estimates for cats alone range up to 70 million. These high numbers are the result of unwanted, unplanned litters that could have been easily prevented—by routine surgical operations known as spaying and neutering. The Gift Here at the ASPCA, we are doing all we can to combat pet overpopulation—from providing low-cost or free spay/neuter to qualifying pet owners in New York City’s five boroughs to ensuring that each and every animal adopted from our shelter is spayed or neutered. And spaying and neutering is not only for the greater good—it's good for the health of the individual animal, too. Spaying a female cat or dog helps prevent pyometra and breast cancer, and neutering a male dog or cat prevents testicular cancer. And there are wonderful behavioral benefits to boot! Your gift will allow our veterinary surgeons to spay or neuter one dog or cat who is awaiting a home in our shelter. Thank you for joining in the fight against pet overpopulation.$100.00
- Save A Pet's Life American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsProblemMany animals awaiting adoption at our headquarters are former strays or were rescued from abusive and neglectful situations. At best, these dogs and cats begin to gain strength and vigor once they receive regular nutrition and tender loving care. At worst, they come to us with serious, life-threatening conditions. These conditions may be the result of symptoms left unchecked, or the result of the abuse and neglect they suffered in their former lives. The Gift Here at the ASPCA, we are committed to finding a permanent, loving home for every adoptable dog or cat who comes through our doors. As such, we do everything we can to ensure that the animal receives the veterinary care he or she needs—be that routine care, medications, or surgery. Your gift will sponsor an emergency lifesaving medical treatment by our veterinarians at Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital for a shelter animal in our care. Thank you for allowing an animal that second chance.$500.00
