This year, more than 200,000 people in the United States will be diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. Brain cancer often strikes individuals at a relatively young age. The disease now ranks seventh for adults and first for children in terms of years of life lost. Additionally, brain tumors are the leading cause of death from childhood cancers among persons up to 19 years of age. New and effective treatments are desperately needed.
