Problem

Almost 26 million Africans are living with HIV. This is more than 60% of all people living with HIV worldwide. In 2005, 2.4 million Africans died from AIDS-related diseases. Most people do not know whether or not they are infected, putting others at risk.

The Gift

AMREF provides voluntary counseling and testing services to people who wish to know their HIV status. Those who are not infected learn how to protect themselves from the disease. Those who are found to be HIV positive are counseled to take the appropriate medication and avoid infecting their loved ones, and are helped to live positive and productive lives even though they have AIDS. Your gift of $15 will pay for HIV testing and counseling for HIV/AIDS patients, helping them live longer healthier lives and to protect those they care about.
