Problem
Escaping poverty involves empowering working-poor immigrant families to get out of the low-wage job trap. While two primary means of doing this are self-employment and asset building, and many immigrants have entrepreneurial drive, the desire to save, and well-developed community support networks, they run a gauntlet on the path to success. Many new Americans lack English language skills, access to credit, knowledge of the resources available to help them integrate.
