Help for Poor Seniors
Building Opportunities For Self-Sufficiency
Homeless seniors are usually on fixed, very low incomes with budgets that cannot accommodate the high costs of gas, parking, or car maintenance. This creates a serious barrier for seniors striving to get to medical or dental appointments, shop for groceries, visit family, or meet other daily needs. Public transportation such as bus or commuter train are often the only affordable option, yet even these are beyond most seniors' means.
This gift will provide transportation assistance to homeless seniors so they can get around in the community and meet daily health and household needs, connect with family and friends, and maintain a high quality of life. Assistance provided may include discount senior bus passes, train, commuter rail or BART fare, or taxi vouchers. This gift will help very low income seniors maintain a high level of independence and engagement in the community, enhancing their health and quality of life.
