Empower A Woman
Jobs for 3 refugees
Cooperative Housing Foundation
For more than 2 million internally displaced families in Sudan’s ravaged Darfur region, natural resources are scarce and opportunities to earn income are even harder to come by. Living in relief camps scattered throughout the region, these families struggle to survive, waiting for the day they can return to their villages, to their peaceful lives as farmers and entrepreneurs.
The only hope some of them have for the long-term are programs that empower them to earn a sustainable living, instead of simply giving handouts. CHF’s range of programs lay the foundations for refugees—particularly women—to have the skills and tools they need to be safe and secure in their camps and in their incomes. Your simple gift can help 3 women join a livestock cooperative, learn to weave baskets and mats, or produce fuel-efficient stoves, skills that will help them earn much needed income in an environment where they have few choices, and little voice. Your simple gift can empower a woman to learn a new skill in the handicrafts sector and earn a sustainable income that will help her even after she returns to her village one day soon.
