The Problem

Land-based sources of pollution like untreated wastewater and agricultural runoff are prevelant because of poor management practices. These are especially devastating when occuring in coral reef-adjacent communities. Sediments can smother and bury corals and nutrients feed algae growth that can compete with corals for space on reefs. Understanding the water quality enables us to better address the source of water pollution and implement appropriate solutions to help corals thrive.

The Gift
