Re-Frame the Debate

For communities to develop ecoagriculture, public policies must support their efforts. Yet existing conservation policies often create barriers to farmer action, while agricultural policies often promote monocultures and clearing of natural vegetation. Indeed, most government agencies, and the public, are unfamiliar with the concept of ecoagriculture. The public and their representatives need to understand that the options are not “either food or wildlife" but "both food and wildlife."
Small, but strategic messages through the media and targeted advocacy can make a big difference in policy decisions. Your donation will help raise awareness of ecoagriculture issues and re-shape policy debates, by helping rural communities tell their stories. With your support, Ecoagriculture Partners will: compile the stories of specific communities’ ecoagriculture landscapes; illustrate their stories with videos and interactive web tools; and use their stories to brief political leaders about how ecoagriculture can contribute to solutions for hunger, poverty, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity.
