Promote Sanitation
Water for a rural school
Global Rainwater Harvesting Collective
Problem
Poor rural children have to fetch water for daily household needs. By providing a source of clean drinking water at schools, more girls attend school.
The Gift
Rainwater harvesting systems with a capacity of 100,000 liters are enough to meet water and sanitations needs for 500 school children for 6 months. Your gift of $500 will provide clean drinking water to 1 child in school for more than 1 year, will help reach the total cost of $10,000 for such a storage system, and will provide trucked water supply during times of drought or dry season to supplement the rainwater supply and ensure a steady supply of cleaning drinking water to the school children and community.
