International Crisis Group
Thousands have died and over 2 million are displaced in Darfur, Sudan; rebel armies are abducting children and attacking villages in Uganda; the Congo teeters on the brink between war and peace following democratic elections; Rwanda and Burundi attempt to maintain peace in the aftermath of ethnic cleansing and civil war. Crisis Group’s Central and Horn of Africa Projects develop policies to prevent and resolve deadly conflict and generate civil society in these volatile regions.
Your donation will support the Crisis Group team working throughout the Central and Horn of Africa region. In Central Africa, Crisis Group reports on the conflict in Northern Uganda, the fragile political transitions in Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as the reconciliation process in Rwanda. In the Horn of Africa, Crisis Group recommends strategies for peace in Sudan and has launched a high-profile campaign to end the catastrophic violence in Darfur (western Sudan). The Horn project also reports on the interlocking conflicts in Chad, Ethiopia/Eritrea, and Somalia. Your gift will enable analysts to gather information, which translates into Crisis Group’s influential and much publicized reports and policy prescriptions. You will provide vital resources for Crisis Group to monitor and report on internal and external threats to peace, as well as progress towards reconciliation and political transitions.
