International Physicians For The Prevention Of Nuclear War
There have been two nuclear attacks: in Hiroshima, over 140,000 people were killed and in Nagasaki 80,000 were killed by the end of 1945. Currently there are nine nuclear-weapon states holding more than 25,000 nuclear weapons and others on the brink of going nuclear. The use of (or threat of use of) such weapons are contrary to the rules of international law applicable in armed conflict, according to an advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice in 1996.
We are the only international medical organization dedicated to preventing nuclear war and abolishing nuclear weapons. Your gift will assist IPPNW in preserving and promoting peace through the IPPNW affiliates in over sixty countries that work together to strengthen effective diplomacy, peaceful conflict resolution, and conduct trainings in the international community.
