Problem
As is well-recognized, youth are the future of any movement. They have the talent, energy, and passion to mobilize action on a world-altering scale. Not only will they become the leaders of tomorrow, they are important stakeholders in the realization of a mine-free world. Regional and international training opportunities at official Mine Ban Treaty events for aspiring youth leaders are a critical part of solidifying the involvement and effective engagement of the next generation.
The Gift
This gift will help sponsor the costs of having an aspiring young social justice leader participate in an international youth capacity building symposium, a Youth Model Review Conference on the Mine Ban Treaty alongside the annual Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty in Amman, Jordan in November 2007. Youth delegates will get an opportunity to learn about and represent a State or international organization. Youth will have opportunities to participate in the official Treaty meeting and international campaign activities.
