Village mine education
Mines Advisory Group America
Each year, tens of thousands of people are killed or maimed by landmines and the remnants of conflict. The reasons for mine accidents vary but are too often due to people's lack of knowledge about landmines and appropriate behavior to stay safe. In some countries, one third of casualties affect children, who tend to mistake mines or unexploded bombs for toys.
Your gift will provide one day of life-saving information to a village at risk from the threat of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). MAG will teach a vulnerable community about the physical appearance of landmines and UXO and what realistic steps people can take to stay safe. For a small price, you will help change the high-risk behavior of affected men, women, and children, enabling them to live more safely in contaminated areas.
