Plant a Memory Tree
In-memory tree planted
NOLA Tree Project
Over 100,000 trees were lost in New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina. These trees served as wind barriers, helped with erosion and absorbed rain water which helped prevent flooding. These trees also helped lower energy bills and made the summers more bearable. These trees, some over hundreds of years old added to the quality of life in New Orleans by providing shaded areas where residents could relax, play and visit with other neighbors. This helped build a sense of community among residents.
This gift will help restore the over 70% of the tree canopy that was destroyed due to Hurricane Katrina. It will help provide hope to the residents of New Orleans because planting trees gives body and life to ones dreams of a better future. You can honor someone important by having a tree planted in New Orleans in their memory.
