Problem

SFS field stations are located in some of the most pristine, tropical places on earth. Climatologically speaking, however, these locales are not the best environment in which to store text books. Typical field library storage conditions can range up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and 100% humidity. New and replacement books are constantly needed to provide our research teams with the best and most current scientific information.

The Gift

Your gift will fund the purchase of one book or one issue of a scientific journal for a library. This might be a field guide to Australian birds or African mammals, or an issue of a journal like Conservation Biology. SFS student and faculty researchers will use these library resources on a daily basis as they work to help local communities solve some of their toughest environmental problems. SFS works in partnership with local communities to find solutions to real, not academic, environmental problems. Field research projects are requested and sponsored by community clients who participate in joint environmental management and conservation projects. These communities include: Maasai tribes in Kenya, small-scale and organic farmers in Costa Rica and Australia, and subsistence fishers in the British West Indies and Mexico. Please help by giving our students and faculty the library resources they need to successfully conduct their work.
