Coral saving mooring buoy

Coral saving mooring buoy

    $100.00

The Problem

Coral reef areas can be popular places for people to visit for a number of reasons. Fishers visit to catch fish to eat and sell, divers visit to take in the beauty. Any of these visitors who come by boat need a place to attach to the bottom. Traditionally this means throwing an anchor. But anchors smash into coral, breaking and killing them. Mooring buoys are permanent lines to the bottom which allow visitors to tie up without damaging the reefs below.

The Gift

This gift pays for the installation and maintenance of one mooring buoy for 5 years. Mooring buoys provide an alternative way to moor a boat over a coral reef without causing damage to corals by dropping anchor.
