Escaping poverty involves empowering working-poor immigrant families to get out of the low-wage job trap. While two primary means of doing this are self-employment and asset building, and many immigrants have entrepreneurial drive, the desire to save, and well-developed community support networks, they run a gauntlet on the path to success. Many new Americans lack English language skills, access to credit, knowledge of the resources available to help them integrate.
Your donation provides one new America entrepreneur with a twenty-five week college certificate in Business Planning. AnewAmerica has partnerships with Holy Names University in Oakland, California, and National Hispanic University in San Jose, California, which gives our entrepreneurs a meaningful and respected certificate for their efforts. During the 25-week sessions, entrepreneurs learn how to define their business goals, write business plans, gain proficiency with technological skills and computing equipment, establish an effective accounting system, build financial literacy, asset development and home ownership strategies, integrate social responsibility into their businesses and lifestyles, launch effective marketing campaigns, and how to open their dream businesses. AnewAmerica's Business Planning course also provides entrepreneurs with extensive information on how to establish green micro-enterprises that are ecologically-responsible in their operations and that offer a healthy product to consumers.
