Problem
In the climate of mistrust that has developed since September 11th, many Americans see relations with the Islamic world as the foremost foreign policy challenge facing the nation. Is conflict inevitable or is it possible to find common ground? Can religious belief unite, rather than fuel or justify conflict?
The Gift
Your gift will support engagement between Islam and the West on issues of shared concern, particularly violent conflict and the use of nuclear weapons. Your gift will produce and send Study and Action Guides to 10 Islamic Centers and 10 Churches. Called the "Muslim-Christian Study and Action Guide on the Nuclear Weapons Danger,” this reference guide identifies how closely the two faith traditions view nuclear weapons as abhorrent and immoral, and begins to focus people on working across religious differences toward a mutual goal of reducing nuclear dangers. You can help build mutual understanding and dialogue on the very issues that appear to divide us.
