I was floored when I read how much Americans spend every year on presents, at the same time the brave men and women who served our country need more help than they are getting. Shifting money from the mall to help those veterans is such an obvious thing to do.

I do not need any more stuff. Really, I have all the sweaters, scarves, slippers, and whatever I could ever use.

Want to help me celebrate my birthday or a holiday? Please do something meaningful--something that I will really appreciate. Please make a donation to help veterans, instead. You can see my favorite donation opportunities below.

By taking action and donating to support our injured troops, your monetary contribution will fund reintegration programs for injured service members and their families as they transition back into society. Coalition to Salute America's Heroes

In 2006, the Coalition opened an office at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and is part of the Transition Employment Assistance Management Service (TEAMS). This group provides employment and transitioning assistance to service members and their military spouses. A gift can help to provide on-job pre-occupational training, online courses, which cost $500 - $600 per service member.

Your gift will help the Coalition provide a gift to honor an injured servicemember.
