I hope you will create your own charitable wish list or registry to show what you care about, and encourage your friends to do the same.
Imagine how much good all of us can do together as more and more people adopt this type of giving.

Unite For Sight
$60.00
You can make a significant, meaningful, tangible impact in the lives of children and adults worldwide. Each cataract surgery completely restores someone's sight in approximately 15-30 minutes, and the cost of the surgery in Tamale, Ghana is $60. Every dollar donated makes a tremendous impact on the lives of children and adults. Unite For Sight's volunteers work as support staff with eye clinics in Africa and Asia. The clinic's eye doctors diagnose and treat eye disease in the field, and surgical patients are brought to the eye clinic for surgery. Unite For Sight funds the surgeries for those patients unable to afford eye care. This partnership between Unite For Sight volunteers and eye clinics enables sustainable programs while simultaneously reducing the barriers to health care, including financial, transportation, cultural, and education hindrances.
Global Fund for Women
$5.00
A gift of $5 will allow a group like the Union for the Emancipation of Indigenous Women to provide school supplies and school fees for 10 indigenous girls, daughters of the displaced survivors of the Rwandan Genocide, in the South-Kivu Province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Rocky Mountain Institute
$60.00
Your gift will help develop a new generation of leaders. An internship at RMI deepens the education of a young person who is committed to stewarding the earth and its resources. Candidates have broad interest in environmental and resource policy issues, and have a desire to apply these interests to practical, real-life situations.
Natural Resources Defense Council
$30.00
Your donation will help NRDC fight global warming and promote energy efficiency to support a more secure and independent energy future for the United States.
IDE-International Development Enterprises
$5.00
Your gift will allow IDE to respond to the urgent needs of our communities, allowing us to have the greatest impact on the greatest number of people. Your gift will be used to develop affordable farming technologies such as treadle pumps, drip irrigation systems or improved well drilling techniques. IDE will put your money to work where it will have the greatest influence on rural farmers in Africa. Access to treadle pumps and drip irrigation systems have shown to raise income levels; however, without added attention focused on making existing farming technology more affordable, rural subsistence farmers will continue to face stagnation and limited growth options.
Friends of the World Food Program, Inc.
$60.00
Your gift will provide take-home food rations to girls in school for six months to help ease the economic burden on parents. This will help convince parents to keep their daughters in school and free them from their household chores. This gives girls, who otherwise may stay at home, the chance to learn. By promoting education for girls, the World Food Program (WFP) will improve a woman’s chances of finding well-paid work, raising a healthy family and even preventing the spread of diseases like HIV/AIDS. WFP is also helping these girls to achieve economic independence and have a voice within their communities. Education empowers girls and gives them the knowledge and tools they need to improve their lives. It will continue to have positive and long-lasting effects not only for them, but also for their families and their communities. Family Care International
$500.00
This gift will support the transformation of a dysfunctional rural clinic into one that provides high-quality, life-saving maternal care for women in its community. An FCI program in Kenya and Tanzania works with the managers and staff members in local health centers, equipping and empowering them to bring about urgently-needed improvements. Beyond their clinical skills, they learn how to work with health officials to get the resources they need to save lives, how to work with patients so that emergency cases receive urgent care, and how to reach out to the community so that local women and families take full advantage of pre-natal and childbirth services. Your gift of $500 will save lives by transforming an underperforming health center into one that provides the lifesaving care that every woman deserves.

A Note from Dolly About this Gift
Hello everybody! I have an invitation and a request for you.
I don't need to tell you that we are facing a terrible pandemic. If Teardrops Were Pennies, we would all be rich by now.
My longtime friend, Dr. Naji Abumrad (he's not Just Someone I Used to Know), has been doing research at Vanderbilt Medical Center for many years. He told me that they are working hard (not just 9 to 5) and making exciting progress towards finding a cure for the coronavirus.
That great news was like The Day I Fell In Love. I told him it came "Just When I Need You the Most!"
I wanted so much to help, so I said, "Here I Am," and donated $1 million to help find the cure.
Please join me to speed the cure! No, you don't need to give a million dollars to make a difference. Donate whatever you can. Maybe the amount you would normally spend on a pair of movie tickets (may as well, the theaters are closed), the cost of a cute outfit (yep, the stores are closed, too), or the cost of a nice restaurant dinner (yep, closed). Whatever you can do. Every bit helps. Please do it Before the Next Teardrop Falls.
Our Birthdays Can Save the Day
Here's what I love about Changing The Present: you can show your love by giving a meaningful donation to make a difference in a friend's name instead of buying yet another traditional present. This may be The Greatest Gift of All.
Nearly a million of us Americans have a birthday every day. Think how much money we are spending on all those presents! This year, let's do something more meaningful.
Do you have a birthday coming up? Create a charitable wish list on this site. Then add this gift to support research at Vanderbilt Medical Center (or any COVID-19 or other gift you like). Share it with friends and family so they know that you would welcome a meaningful donation instead of more stuff.
Looking to give a great birthday present? Do something meaningful. Give this gift (or any charitable gift on this site) as a donation in your friend's name instead of shopping for merchandise.
No birthdays on the horizon? Join me in giving, just to make a difference.
Be a Dolly Fundraiser! Create a registry, then add this gift, and share it with others. You can see how much money you have raised. I will thank the top 100 fundraisers with a personal thank-you note and a mention on my website.
Please Share this Page
By the way, please, please, please share this page! If you tell 100 friends and family members to do this, eight of them will probably have a birthday in the next month, and even more will be shopping for presents. So spread the word!
You and me and all of us--let's do this together. And let's make it go viral to fight the virus.
Keep the Faith!

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
$75.00
To ensure that each animal who gets adopted has the best possible chance of remaining healthy and happy in his or her new home, ASPCA veterinarians offer specialized care and treatment for all of the animals in our shelter. Our medical staff tests each animal for a variety of illnesses—to protect their health, as well as the health of all the animals in our shelter. Adoptable animals also receive all required vaccinations. Your gift will provide veterinary care for a dog or cat awaiting adoption in our shelter. When that animal finds his forever home, he’ll already have the foundation of good health. Thanks for making that glorious beginning happen!
Defenders of Wildlife
$35.00
Your donation will help us work with our conservation partners to protect coastal beaches used by sea turtles as nesting sanctuaries, educate coastal home and hotel owners on how bright lights interrupt turtle nesting, as well as work to prevent international fishing conglomerates from dismantling laws that protect sea turtles from harmful fishing practices. Your gift will help Defenders save sea turtles and other imperiled wildlife.
