Rose's Wishlist: Providing Food and Water

Charitable wish lists and registries show what we are passionate about.
Create or edit your own here!

A friend of mine created a wish-list on here for her birthday and I thought it was a great idea, so I've decided to make my own. Instead of buying me stuff, I'd love for you to use this site to support important work providing food, water and sanitation. The greeting cards from this site look amazing, so I still have something to open and show off to people, but I also get the satisfaction of knowing I've helped people in need. They need food and water a lot more than I need a scarf or a pair of slippers, so it's a much better use of your money. I can't wait to hear about how many people I've helped because of your generous support!

I'd also recommend that you create a wish-list of your own, so that I can support the causes that you think are important when your next special occasion happens.

Favorite gifts:

$25.00

Your $25 donation enables WaterAid to provide one person with clean safe water, sanitation and hygiene education in one of the 26 countries where we work. This gift is enough to pay for one person in one of the world's poorest countries to gain access to safe, clean water and sanitation for life.

Feed 40 Victims - In a Disaster

Friends of the World Food Program, Inc.

$20.00

Your gift of $20 will enable the World Food Program (WFP) to provide 40 people with meals in areas which have been devastated by malnutrition and death as a result of a natural catastrophe. These gifts allow WFP to engage in emergency operations for disaster victims. To learn more about what WFP and WFP USA are doing to end hunger, please visit www.wfpusa.org

$5.00

Your gift of $5 will provide 14 Basic Needs_Hungermeals to school children. You will be giving the gift of nourishment and making it easier for families to send their children to school. Your donation will enhance children’s capacity to retain knowledge and increase their problem-solving skills. Currently, Operation USA is partnering with Paiyagala Pre-School in Sri Lanka and the village school in Santa Rosa, Nicaragua. With your donation, Operation USA will be able to continue paying for these communities to purchase food, prepare meals and feed children for months to come.

$25.00

Your gift of five children's "arbor-loo" latrines will provide five Malawian children with a safe and hygienic way to defecate while developing good hygiene habits that will last a lifetime. This innovative gift will also help the environment. The arbor-loo latrines generate valuable compost that is used to cultivate fruit trees. After each use, ash and dirt are added to feces, which helps eliminate odors and promote composting. When the pit latrine is full, the slab can be moved to a new location and a tree planted in its place.
