Cats are Changing The Present. Coal and Charcoal are doing their part!

I just discovered this exciting nonprofit website, www.ChangingThePresent.org. It lets anyone give the gift of a donation in their friend's name, and a personalized greeting card makes it especially memorable. This is so much better than another pair of fuzzy slippers! It is even tax-deductible.

Coal, Charcoal, and I like it because we can support our favorite animal welfare or rescue organization. (Actually, you can help support any school, classroom, or nonprofit).

Here are three great ways to help:
1. Make the gift of a donation to help cats in a friend's name, in lieu of buying traditional presents. Your friend will be thrilled, and you will really help cats who need your love.
2. Create your own wish list (sort of like mine), and ask people to donate here instead of buying you presents that you may not want.
3. Please share with other cats and cat-lovers. Tell your favorite organizations and your veterinarian about this site, too.

Thank you!

Do Not Duplicate - Spay/Neuter a Cat

Best Friends Animal Society

$25.00

Your gift will pay for the spay or neuter of one of the new arrivals at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Spaying or neutering is one of the greatest gifts you can provide your pet, your family and your community. These routine medical procedures not only help control pet overpopulation, but they may also prevent medical and behavioral problems from developing, allowing your pet to lead a longer, healthier and happier life.

Care For A Pet - Exam and vaccines

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

$75.00

To ensure that each animal who gets adopted has the best possible chance of remaining healthy and happy in his or her new home, ASPCA veterinarians offer specialized care and treatment for all of the animals in our shelter. Our medical staff tests each animal for a variety of illnesses—to protect their health, as well as the health of all the animals in our shelter. Adoptable animals also receive all required vaccinations. Your gift will provide veterinary care for a dog or cat awaiting adoption in our shelter. When that animal finds his forever home, he’ll already have the foundation of good health. Thanks for making that glorious beginning happen!

Keep Cats Healthy - Tray of vaccines

Best Friends Animal Society

$165.00

Your gift of 25 vaccines will help protect the cats that live here at the sanctuary, and keep them healthy as they await their forever homes. Even though we follow a stringent isolation period for the incoming animals, the risk of exposure is compounded if an animal is not vaccinated.

This gift will provide one homeless kitten with a complete physical exam, vaccinations, flea treatment and de-worming so that it can be adopted out to a loving home.

Microchip Two Pets - Two permanent IDs

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

$50.00

To help increase the chances that a lost animal will be recovered, the ASPCA relies on microchip identification. An electronic chip, about the size of a grain of rice and carrying a unique code, is implanted between a pet’s shoulder blades. The code is entered into a database that links up the animal’s family’s address and contact information. Similar to a routine vaccination, this procedure is quick and painless. If a lost animal is brought to a shelter or vet’s office, the facility will use a scanner to check the dog or cat for a microchip. Your gift will allow us to microchip two adoptable animals in our shelter, affording peace of mind for the new pet parents and helping to ensure a speedy return in the event that the animals inadvertently become lost.

$50.00

Our volunteers care for the cats needs twice a day, every day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately their fantastic care is not enough as we have to pay for rent of our facility. Your gift will help pay for boarding one orphaned cat for an entire month.

$35.00

Your donation will focus on proper nourishment for one of Project Hope's cats, like Jennifer, pictured here. Your gift will also go to veterinary care, to keep cats like Jennifer healthy and happy. There is no better gift to give than the gift of a second chance for one of Project Hope's cats. These cats have been abused, abandoned, and on death's door. They've found a second chance at Project Hope. The one month sponsorship at Project Hope is an amazing chance to make a difference in a cat's life, and to give the gift of hope.
