Your donation to 1% for the Planet supports our vital daily work, and enables us to build more relationships driving increased giving and more positive change.

We leverage every dollar you give to the 1% for the Planet organization to drive at least fifteen dollars to environmental nonprofits doing critical, on-the-ground work for our planet.

The evidence is overwhelming: climate change is an imminent threat, our food systems are increasingly stressed, and our lands, waters, and species are threatened like never before. If we don't act now, the viability of our planet and our quality of life to say nothing of the health of our economy face an existential threat.

1% for the Planet is a credible and accessible way to support the environment. It's not always easy to know where and how to support good work. Most businesses and individuals don't have the expertise to develop their own environmental giving strategies, and few have the time or resources to sort through the dizzying array of options for how to make a difference.

1% for the Planet was started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard (founder of Patagonia) and Craig Mathews (founder of Blue Ribbon Flies). Both successful entrepreneurs, they recognized the power of collective action to protect the environment. Today, businesses and individuals continue to make the 1% for the Planet commitment, creating greater impact every year.
