Teach A Child
Learning toys in Nepal
Rural Education and Development, Inc.
Problem
Nepal’s population is young—some 40 percent of its 27 million residents are under 15 years old. Until 1961, only the children of royalty were permitted to attend school in Nepal. A culture of literacy and learning is still very new in Nepal, particularly in the rural regions where 90 percent of the population lives. The educational needs of children are different than those of adults and educational toys help to make learning fast and fun.
