OPT Interns - How to Get Started

We are delighted that you are joining us for an internship during your OPT period.

EFFECTIVE DATE AND TIMING OF OFFER LETTER

This page and the materials cited below specify certain items and information we need from you.

After you submit everything, we will send you your Offer Letter, so that you can submit your internship to the OPT portal. The effective date of the Offer Letter will be the date you notify our HR team that you have submitted the last of the required materials (or a later date if you prefer, for instance if you need to wait for your EAD start date).

In any event, we will endeavor to send the Offer letter within three business days of the time we receive your materials.

You are allowed ten days from the Effective date of the Offer Letter to file it with the portal, so this gives you plenty of time.

 

REQUIRED INFO AND MATERIALS

    • Please post it to Linkedin and to any social media accounts you have, as it will improve your online presence and help you look good whenever anyone (including a potential employer) searches you online.

REQUIRED MONTHLY CONTRIBUTION

    • Our previous process had new interns pay the first $75 monthly contribution during the onboarding process. We are about to launch a new payment tool, so please wait for notice of that, rather than using the prior payment tool.  

 

  • DAILY REPORTS

Be sure to submit your Daily Report of time and activities each day you work, as discussed in the Welcome Manual. Please save this link to the form: https://form.jotform.com/212875593809066

 

If you do not submit the daily report with the required hours:

    • we will be unable to verify your hours worked when you apply for STEM extension or for employment.
    • the HR department will notify you and your school that your internship was terminated

 

 

  • FINAL ONBOARDING STEP

We are working on further automating our systems. Until then, please send an email to let us know that you finished all the items above, so they can send your offer letter. When you send that email:

    • send it to ctphrteam [AT] gmail [DOT] com
    • use FINISHED OPT ONBOARDING (in capital letters) as the subject line
    • cc: rtolmach [AT] gmail.com

You can decipher the emails, which are written this way to protect them from spammers.

BOARDING ZOOM CALL TO START WORK

When you have finished the onboarding process, schedule a zoom call with the project leader of your team, or with your interviewer if they have not yet introduced you to a project leader.
