How You Benefit

Use your skills and intelligence to:

  • Improve Education for children in the U.S. and around the world (this may be the greatest impact you can make)
  • Improve your skills, including leadership
  • Build your network at your school and nationwide
  • Enhance your resume with a record of achievement and service with a prestigious nonprofit

Choose Your Focus

Focus on K-12 Education (or any type of education, e.g, STEM, Music, Art, Early-Childhood, Special Education, etc.).

We also have roles for those interested in any charitable cause, ethnic group, religious community or country you care about, including hunger, veterans, animals, education, cancer, sexual abuse, mental health, etc.

Unpaid / Possible Credit

We offer a valuable experience. We are a nonprofit, and so:

  • This is an unpaid position.
  • It is eligible for credit and for community service hours at many schools and universities.

About Changing The Present

We help nonprofits and schools capture some of the $450 billion Americans spend each year on birthday, wedding, and holiday presents.

We do that by making the experience of a donation, which you give in a friend's name, feel like a rewarding present and an appealing alternative to buying yet more "stuff." We provide:

  • tangible charitable gifts (provide books for children, fund cataract surgery to restore a blind person's eyesight, etc.)
  • personalized printed greeting cards
  • wish lists and registries
  • gift cards, etc.

This slideshow shows how it works.

Imagine the impact we can make together as more and more people adopt this more meaningful type of giving!

School for a Girl

This is Prestigious and Competitive

We seek undergrad and graduate students who:

  • have a strong academic record
  • commit to at least three hours per week during the summer or the school year. (If you can spend at least ten hours per week, please see our opportunities for internships, which can be done remotely/online).

What You Will Do as a Public Engagement Intern

You will use social media, email, and in-person conversations to raise awareness of and engagement in Changing The Present among:

  • students, student organizations, departments, faculty, and alumni
  • local nonprofits and schools so they know of this opportunity to attract new funding.

You will also help raise awareness of our wide range of charitable gifts that support the cause of Education.

We Provide the Tools You Need to Succeed

We will provide detailed instructions, message templates, downloadable flyers, digital graphics, and other marketing assets for your use. We also welcome your great ideas.

Be Part of a Nationwide Community

We will have multiple Public Engagement Interns at each school, and we will provide an online community for you to connect with one another, as well as with those at other schools nationwide. That will let you collaborate, share tips, celebrate your successes, build your network, and make new friends.
