- Rescue An Animal American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsProblemMany dogs and cats who come to our shelter are diamonds in the rough. They may have had tough times of abuse and neglect in their prior lives, so it can take some “cleaning up" for them to really shine. That entails medical care, good nutrition, and clean, safe housing. Our behaviorists evaluate each animal, determine what kind of home they’d do best in, and teach them how to be well-behaved members of the family. The Gift Here at the ASPCA, we are committed to finding a permanent, loving home for every adoptable dog or cat who comes through our doors. As such, we do everything we can to make sure that potential adopters can see how wonderful and worthy each animal is. Your gift will sponsor the rescue of a dog or cat, and provide routine medical care, nutritional care, behavior evaluation and shelter housing for that animal—until the day he or she is adopted. Thanks for allowing our diamonds in the rough to really sparkle—they so deserve it!$1,000.00
- Stop Overpopulation American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsProblemMillions of cats and dogs of all ages and breeds are euthanized annually or suffer as strays. It is impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats live in the United States; estimates for cats alone range up to 70 million. These high numbers are the result of unwanted, unplanned litters that could have been easily prevented—by routine surgical operations known as spaying and neutering. The Gift Here at the ASPCA, we are doing all we can to combat pet overpopulation—from providing low-cost or free spay/neuter to qualifying pet owners in New York City’s five boroughs to ensuring that each and every animal adopted from our shelter is spayed or neutered. And spaying and neutering is not only for the greater good—it’s good for the health of the individual animal, too. Spaying a female cat or dog helps prevent pyometra and breast cancer, and neutering a male dog or cat prevents testicular cancer. And there are wonderful behavioral benefits to boot! Your gift will allow our veterinary surgeons to spay or neuter 50 dogs and cats who are awaiting homes in our shelter. Thank you for joining in the fight against pet overpopulation.$2,500.00
- Rescue A Foal American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to AnimalsProblemPremarin, a drug derived from pregnant mares’ urine (PMU), is prescribed to alleviate symptoms of menopause and to prevent osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. But the horses used to produce this drug undergo unnecessary stress and pain. Mares are strapped to urine collection bags 6 months a year; when no longer able to reproduce, they are sold for slaughter. The majority of the foals who are born as “by-products" of the industry end up in slaughterhouses. The Gift The ASPCA is committed to helping some of the thousands of Premarin foals born every year, and the thousands of PMU mares made redundant by recent drastic production cuts in the industry. As such, we provide grants to support the work of several dedicated individuals and organizations who are trying to save as many of these Premarin foals as possible. Your gift will rescue a Premarin foal from inhumane conditions and eventual slaughter, and will cover costs for one year of care at an equine sanctuary. A horse's life saved -- thanks to you.$4,990.00

- Buy A Loom Arzu IncProblemWeaving is a centuries old tradition in Afghanistan and is currently still one of the only acceptable ways for women in the country to earn wages. Families often go into debt renting looms from rug dealers. Arzu provides all weavers registered in our program the loom, wool and tools necessary to create unique handmade rugs. The Gift Your donation buys a quality rug loom for a weaver whose earnings are the sole source of income for her family. By providing a loom for a weaver, you support sustainable income for women in Afghanistan - many of whom have become widows during the war and are responsible for single-handedly supporting the entire family.$300.00
- Support Clean Water Arzu IncProblemAs a third world country, Afghanistan lacks many technologies and advancements. One of the most basic needs for people is access to water, yet the country is unable to provide clean water for its people. Arzu has begun a water filtration project to provide access to clean water for many of the rural villages in which we are located. The Gift Purchasing a clay water pot for Arzu's water filtration system ensures the ongoing effort to provide clean water to rural communities in Afghanistan. This simple donation will allow women and their families clean water for drinking and cooking - promoting Arzu's commitment to improve the health of individuals in Afghanistan.$10.00
- Promote Literacy Arzu IncProblemMany children, especially girls, in rural Afghanistan do not have access to education. More than just proximity to schools, the problem is that many parents cannot afford to send their sons to school, let alone their daughters. Aside from tuition, fees often include buying school supplies for the year. The Gift Your gift will provide school supplies for 10 children for one year. This generous donation will assist Arzu in encouraging education throughout Afghanistan and in making sure that all children of registered weavers attend school and have the proper supplies for their classes.$60.00
